Company Review: Glamorous Goods
Since the owners of this site spammed our forum with advertisements for their services, we thought it only fair that we offer some further information about this company, based upon our own experience. The company name is Glamorous Goods, they appear to run a pretty new dropshipping service and have quite a range of products, from console games to clocks.
Call us old fashioned, but as the dropshipping market matures, we’re looking very closely at how the drop ship companies differentiate themselves from one another. Obviously one way to do this is with service to their clients, so the first thing we decided to look at was the return policy. We’re pleased to report that in this case it was a no quibble return within 7 days. They also promise to ship all goods within 48 hours.
Payment as you would expect is via Paypal, they also claim to accept credit cards. Although this does not look an automated part of their service, I’m sure if we’re wrong we’ll be corrected. If you want to pay by credit card we can only assume you have to email the web site owners as there are no telephone numbers available on the site. As a general rule of thumb, we think it is a good idea for drop shippers to publish their phone numbers to allow their potential clients the opportunity to speak with them.
Again, we come to the whole idea of a fee to use the dropshipper. We’re not big fans of charging customer’s for the privilege of bringing you business. In this case it is £10, presumably this is for a life times membership as it does not mention it is an annual fee.
This site provides their users with tips to help them sell on eBay, so again we can assume that they are targeting the eBay occasional sellers or Powersellers. If you’re currently a seller, take the time to check what the average selling price for each product is before committing to the membership. We’re pretty sure that we could find some of the products brand new and for less from other eBay sellers. The other thing to look out for is that a lot of the products are end of line or what is known as obsolete stock, this means that when these products are gone, there will be no more available, not a good place to be if you’re trying to build a reputable online commerce business.
In summary, these guys look like they have made a good start. We’re not convinced that they are the finished article or indeed the site will still look the same in 12 months. However, it could be an opportunity to be one of the early members and steal a march on your competitors. Time will tell whether they are happy with their slice of the pie for the effort involved once they start to grow.
As it is such a new company, we’ll be sure to visit again. We also look forward to any early user feedback.
