How to be unique in a competitive market

 How to be unique.

Do you know how to stand out from the your competitors?

Following up on recent articles The Quick and Easy Way to Make Money Online and The Turnkey Website Graveyard, we received many emails asking how is it possible to stand out in what can sometimes be a saturated market.

It’s a good topic. Many of you will know from experience, especially if you’re a dropshipper, that whatever you sell, whatever you offer, there’s probably another thousand people offering the same service or product. This problem is multiplied online by the fact that it is extremely difficult just to get your business or web site noticed.

So how do you stand out from the crowd?

We talk about this a lot at UK Dropshipper Guide, there’s no secret sauce that you can pour on your web site or online business that automatically entitles you to retire on your riches. The only sure fire way to succeed is with hard work, however that hard work needs to be focused in the right places.

Below is a number of tips that will help your business stand out from the ever growing crowd. They may seem like no brainers, it’s true most of them are, however take a look at your competition many of them will not take advantage of any of the tips below.

Online customer service is just as important as offline customer service.

Most people do not put up with poor service when they use offline retail outlets. We’ve grown used to expecting great service, polite assistants and quick responses. If we perceive we are not receiving this level of service, we go else where. It’s the same for Internet web sites. We all know that some customers can be a lot of trouble, they ask lots of questions and appear to be taking up a lot of your time, from my experience these customers are “qualifying you”, they often end up being your most loyal customers.

Remember your contact details, including phone number and address.

However good your offer or service is, you’re neglecting a very large market by not including your address or at the very least a contact phone number. People need assurances, especially on the Internet. It’s so easy to knock up a web site, that people want to be able to communicate with the site owner. It’s also a great opportunity for pre selling.

Become an authority in your chosen field.

If you sell children’s clothes, contribute regularly to forums about children’s clothes, take time to respond to questions and include a link to your web site in your signature. People will quickly realise that you’re helpful and knowledgeable and be interested to learn more about your business. This tip alone can increase your traffic to a web site by as much as 100 unique visitors a day, this can be multiplied over many forums.

Give away a free gift or trial.

Let your potential customers experience your service and support. Allow them a free trial, perhaps offer them a free gift or ebook. The very least you will get in return is a potential customer’s email address, this will allow you to market to them in the future.

These tips are not exhaustive, there’s probably another 1,000 that can be added. If you would like to submit your tip, please feel free to email it to us. If you include your web site details, we’ll also include a link to your site.
